March 31, 2015 marks another milestone in the UAV industry; DroneDeploy not only announced $9M in Series A funding but also announced a partnership with DJI. And as if that was not enough - DroneDeploy also released its mobile app to automate drones to create fast, easy, real-time and detailed aerial maps.
What is DroneDeploy?
It's in essence a full software solution for drones, covering flight planning, safety, data processing and data presentation. The mobile app enables the user for simpler, faster and better aerial data gathering and processing.
As Mark has covered already, 3D Mapping is an application with huge potential and big interest. At this point we have only touched the surface of the possibilities and what DroneDeploy's model adds the most current state of technology to this application; while the drone flies its mission, taking image after image, it also uploads the data into the cloud and processing of that aerial map starts while the mission is being flown.
What is it for?
Using the DroneDeploy application, farmers and agronomists can now quickly assess and diagnose crop health, detect field variations, categorize yield zones and analyze NDVI outputs for smarter farming decisions. Construction and mining operators can easily generate high resolution 3D or digital elevation models of sites and structures, and analyze plan progress to eliminate inconsistencies.
Why the Partnerships with DJI?
DroneDeploy's easy-to-use software platform, prioritization of safety, and mission to enable drones as industrial tools for data collection are closely aligned with DJI's vision for the future of UAV technology. DJI believes DroneDeploy's unique live data-processing capabilities plus the stability and reliability of our aerial imaging platforms is a winning combination.
