This is the Keyhole Arch at Big Sur. Around the winter solstice the Sun sets just perfectly to shine this beam of light through the arch. Now the weather conditions have to be just right as well; no fog or cloud layers.
The more the Sun sets, the longer the beam gets, until it reaches the beach. At the beach were about 50 photographers with their tripods trying to get the most real-estate for them, taking pictures of this beautiful natural occurrence.
I flew over the beach, anywhere from 50 - 350 feet and captured this event from a very different perspective.
